Dallas Police shooting: A tragic incident unfolded in southern Dallas late Thursday when one police officer was fatally shot and two others were injured, according to the Dallas Police Department.
The shooting occurred around 10:10 p.m. in the Oak Cliff neighborhood, near the intersection of East Ledbetter Drive and South Marsalis Avenue. Officers responding to the scene found one of their own shot while still inside a marked squad car.
As officers confronted the suspect, an exchange of gunfire ensued, during which two additional officers were struck. All three officers were rushed to nearby hospitals, where one succumbed to their injuries. The other two officers remain hospitalized, with one in stable condition and the other in critical condition.
Dallas Police shooting: The suspect fled the scene, leading police on a chase that ended in Lewisville. Upon exiting his vehicle with a long gun, the suspect was shot by pursuing officers and pronounced dead at the scene.
