Linkin Park reunite with new female singer Emily Armstrong
Linkin Park Selects Emily Armstrong From Rock Band Dead Sara as New Singer, Reveals Tour and Album ‘From Zero’
Linkin Park has announced that Emily Armstrong, the lead vocalist of Dead Sara, will be joining the band as their new co-vocalist. Alongside her, Colin Brittain, a songwriter and producer known for his work with G Flip, Illenium, and One OK Rock, will take on the role of drummer. The band revealed the news during a live performance event on Thursday.
In conjunction with the announcement, Linkin Park also released a new single, “The Emptiness Machine,” marking their first new music in seven years. This track serves as the lead single for their upcoming album, From Zero, which is set to be released on November 15 via Warner Records. The album will be their first full-length project since 2017’s One More Light, which came out just two months before the tragic passing of lead vocalist Chester Bennington.
The current lineup of Linkin Park includes Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, and Joe Hahn, alongside new members Armstrong and Brittain. The band also announced a six-date arena tour that will take them to cities including Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogotá. The full tour schedule is available below.
Linkin Park performed together for the first time since their hiatus in Los Angeles on Thursday, at an exclusive event for ticketed fans who were transported by buses to a studio lot. The performance was livestreamed and will be accessible on Linkin Park’s official channels for the next 24 hours.
According to a press release, Shinoda, Delson, Farrell, and Hahn have been quietly reconnecting over the past few years. Rather than trying to simply restart the band, they collaborated with various musicians, ultimately finding a special connection with Armstrong and Brittain.
Reflecting on this new chapter, Shinoda stated, “Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future—embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life. It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years and excited about the journey ahead.”
“The Emptiness Machine” is described as capturing the essence of Linkin Park’s sound. Shinoda expressed that the band feels “really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant and energized new music we’ve made together,” adding that they are “weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known for while still exploring new ones.”
Pre-sale tickets for the From Zero tour will be available to LP Underground fan club members starting September 6, with the general sale beginning on September 7.
This announcement follows Linkin Park’s recent release of the Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023) earlier this spring. The 20-track album features the band’s greatest hits, including “In the End,” “Burn It Down,” “Numb/Encore” with Jay-Z, and “Lost,” which contributed to the resurgence of their album Meteora into the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart.
