Mega Millions jackpot rises to $740 million after no grand prize winner
Mega Millions winning numbers for August 23 drawing; Jackpot soars to $575 million
The Mega Millions jackpot has surged to an estimated $740 million after no tickets matched the winning numbers in Tuesday night’s drawing.
The numbers drawn on Tuesday were 12, 41, 43, 52, and 55, with a Mega Ball of 9. The Megaplier was 4X.
While no one claimed the $681 million jackpot, two players—one in Kansas and another in Michigan—matched all five white balls, each winning $1 million.
The next Mega Millions drawing is scheduled for Friday, offering players a chance to win the estimated $740 million grand prize, with a cash option of $366.3 million. If won, it would be the seventh-largest prize in the game’s history.
Winners can choose between the cash prize or the Mega Millions annuity, which is paid out as one immediate payment followed by 29 annual installments.
The odds of winning the grand prize are 1 in 302,575,350.
The Mega Millions jackpot was last won on June 4, when a player in Illinois won $552 million, the 10th-largest jackpot in the game’s history. The record jackpot of $1.602 billion was won in Florida on August 8, 2023.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets can be purchased until 9:45 p.m. on the night of the Tuesday and Friday draws.
