The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday’s drawing reached an incredible $740 million, drawing excitement from both regular and occasional players.
The winning numbers were drawn just after 11 p.m. ET on Friday, and we have the results below. The jackpot grew to nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars because no one won in Tuesday’s drawing.
“$740 million?! That’s enough to buy a ton of fancy clothes and maybe even treat my mom to something special,” wrote X user Stephanie White in a post on Friday.
“Holy moly!” added X user @robinsondie9871. “I’ve got my lucky numbers ready! Maybe this time I’ll win that big cash prize and buy myself a brand new house with a pool.”
If someone wins the Mega Millions jackpot on Friday, they could take home an estimated $371.6 million after taxes as a lump-sum payment. If no one wins, the jackpot could jump to over $800 million for Tuesday’s drawing, the announcer mentioned after Friday’s drawing.
So far this year, only two people have won a Mega Millions jackpot: One in March when a player in New Jersey won $1.13 billion, and again in June when a player in Illinois won $552 million. Will you or your office pool be the next big winner?
